Mr Zheng Haiqi is currently a PhD candidate in the School of International Studies in Renmin University of China. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) at the National University of Singapore in 2021. He has also held appointments at think tanks such as Grandview Institution and China Overseas Security Research Institute.
Mr Zheng’s current research focuses on maritime security and Sino-India relations. The research areas include India’s ocean governance in the Indian Ocean and China’s health governance in the Indo-Pacific region. His publications have appeared in ISAS as well as several Chinese newspapers. During his appointment in ISAS, he also published in peer-reviewed journals such as East Asian Policy.
Mr Zheng holds an MA in International Relations from Renmin University of China and a BA in the same research field from Xi’an International Studies University.
